You can paint chrome, but you need to scuff it up real good with some heavy grit sand paper, then some phiner grit.

Depending on how well you sand, the paint you use, and other phactors will determine how well it sticks.

I've sanded and painted a phew parts, and some have held up better then others.

Have you used the same paint and primer? I wonder what is the determining factor to longevity for painting chrome pieces?

I've used a couple different paints. A rattle can wrinkle black phrom NAPA, and some BBQ black. I can't remember the brand of either right now.

The wrinkle is on my horn cover on my AC cover. It's held up better on the AC cover then the horn, but I sanded the AC cover better, and put more coats on it then the horn. The BBQ black is on the air philter backing plate, and the handle bars. The bars were chrome, and sanded well, while the back plate was the stock stage1, non chrome variety. Multiple coats went on both of those. The back plate has held up great, but I do notice some wear where the brake line rubs on the handle bars.

My opinion is that proper prep is the key.
