HD dealership just put forward controls on my StreetBob. The rear shifter arm ( the one that attaches to the tranny) is wobbly. The shift shaft from the tranny is wobbly too. HD said that it is OK. But I dont know if I buy that or not. I never checked it when it had a midshift situp.

the brake side is supposed to have a little movement....not sure about the shift side though
If you're still concerned, take it to another dealer and have a tech take a quick look at it. Any good dealer should be fine with giving it a quick check.

yep my shift shaft from the trans is wobbly also.so when you move the shift arm it looks like your arm is wobbly but it is the shaft from the trans. think it is just the way it is

I'll have to look at mine................ about 13K miles, and aside from any other problems ith the Dyna, I have never had a shifting problem.

got 18.5k miles on mine.only shift problem i experianced a couple of times was when wound up and went to hit 3rd or 4th and it seemed like i was in 6th no movement till i let off the fuel then it dropped in gear.only has happend maybe 3 or 4 times toatal.i kinda thought it might be the cheap linkage maybe?

I put the HD forward kit on my bike myself, and after 8,900 miles it's still extremely tight. My friends Sportster has some aftermarket kit thats loose and it feels like $hit, it's no way to have a bike, it should be in good mechanical shape at all times. If your bike isn't right, fix it or get it fixed before something breaks. If the arm coming out of the trans is loose it will eventually strip out the shaft and the trans will have to be pulled out and rebuilt, so get er' done.
