Default Dyna foot control configurations... how do you ride?

Recently, I bought my wife Traci an 03 Anniversary Low Rider. She's a fan of her Triumph Bonneville America at present and I'm trying to get her comfortable with the bigger more poweful bike but its been a hard sell so far!

I'm wondering if anyone has any pix of how your Dyna's are set up; I could use pix of both forward controls as well as mid ones and floorboards and such as well. This is my first Dyna and truthfully I'm sort of confuzzeled with all the options a rider can have as to "where" to put your feet, the shifter etc.

Any pix or links will help. I'll post pix of whats on it later this eve from home but whats on it now is a peg, forward of a heel rest. Traci found that sort of intimidating.

This is how shes set up on her Triumph...my wife is 140lbs. - 5' 8"

Best to leave it stock with the mid controls and forward highway pegs for now, I find this the best configuration for me. I tried floorboards and didn't like them.

Agreed, you can also get the adjustable highway pegs that you can tilt toward the rider (for shorter legs) if need be. I tried running a set of pegs w/ heel rests on my mids for awhile but didn't really care for it. I would sometimes gouge my shins on the heel rests when I put my feet down and they would just otherwise get in the way.

I don't know if you would be intrested in somthing like this, or if it would even fit, but it works real good on the '06's and up.

These are parts from a '12 FLD Switchback. If you're intrested, I've got a list of the parts, cost, and notes. just PM me.

hope this helps.

Best wishes....Tim(HT)

P.S. Nothing wrong with a Bonneville, had one back in the day....good, strong runner.

We need better pics of your wife.

I have mid controls with adjustable forward pegs. I use the mids more but when I rest my feet on the forward pegs I can use my heels to shift and brake.

P. S. Don't forget to post the pics!!!

I like mid controls and highway pegs on my dyna. From the pic you posted, you wife looks pretty comfortable with forward controls. It's a matter of personal preference.

I was riding with the mid controls and highway peg comination, butwas tired of moving my feet when the traffic caused a need to shift or brake. I recently went with forward controls and love the ride now. No more forward and backward with my feet.

I like the custom fitted floor boards on my 08 FXDF. They allow for a mid control and a forward control foot position.

If you're interested in a set of OEM Dyna Police Defender floor boards for your 03 Low Rider let me know.

I have mine set up that way; I like the control of mids and the highway pegs to stretch out. The holes are already in the frame.

But I am 5' 8", if you have long legs the mids will feel cramped.

Good luck!

I suppose that forward controls (or not) are a matter of personal preference. I just took these essentially brand new forward controls off an '03 Low Rider that I recently acquired. PM me if you'd be interested in them. No scratches, rust, pits etc. they have the perfect original mirror finish. At the least the pictures should give you and your wife a good idea of what your bike would look like with them installed.
