Got my pipes and bike back from its 1000 mile service Friday after work. mounted up the Cobras Friday night put another 350 miles on this weekend! Pipes sound great and the bike runs SMOOOOOOOTH now! they are loud but not to loud. @ cruzing speeds (50+) with wind noise they arent noticable untill you put the motor under load. Once you open it up.. Everybody knows it! I got alot of turning heads this weekend riding thru town! very nice rumble! Love my bike even more now! next stop.. handlebars
Ok so I get rid of the vibration on my bike from the muffler by taking out the bolt and leaving it out (stupid ) but any ways I did it. So I have a detachable sissy bar and it rattles so loud my neighbors hear me coming down the street. Been to the dealership twice and they even tried putting a new one on and it does not help at all. Does anybody else have this problem?? Been a softail owner for the last 20 years, really thinking I made a wrong choice!!!
Love the look with the pipes, question is these can not be put on with out re mapping? Am I right with this? And if you don't mind how much were the pipes?

first off you want to put that bolt back in but using 2 ptfe washers 1 in between the muffler mount and frame and 1 under the bolt head to bracket.
second if its rattling like mine was i put 2 winds of electrical tape trimmed to fit the rear mount and then the QD fit nice and tight which got rid of 90% of the racket..
Yeah...Odie in Az...did you have to remap with the new pipes? I'm looking at the Samson legend street sweepers and I'm not ready to do the air intake just yet. I've changed out pipes on other bikes and have never remapped. I did live with a little decel popping, but nothing really bad.

So, did you remap?
I think your question goes to swanny2369. I just replied to his pictures. His original post is on the page before.
went over 200 miles on mine this past sunday so i decided to give it
a little highway run as i have been babying with varying speeds per break in procedure.
while i did run it up i still did not go over 3k rpm but what was strange was
the MAJOR VIBRATION at 2900-3000 rpm in 6th gear. im sure it is there at that rpm in other gears but it was really noticable at highway speed which i can forsee a problem with on a trip as it is right around 80mph,
if you have ever driven on the NJ turnpike you know is the average speed.
in any case while doing some research on it i see where some people believe it has to do with the 2-1 exhaust pipe transfering the vibes back to the chassis.
for any of you guys that have changed the pipe did you notice any change in the vibration? that is if you noticed it to begin with.
I just installed a Supertrapp 2:1 on my '03 and I'm getting a vibration through my bars at 3k rpm's. I was racking my mind what it could be since I changed cams, cam plate-oil pump, push rods, and lifters at the same time. I think it's the pipes, the brackets are pretty solid and mount to the engine & trans. The Vance & Hines I took off only mounted to the transmission. I'm still going to try tweaking the carb some more though. The problem with the vibration at 3000 rpm is that's were the sweet spot is. It seems that's I like keep the engine rpm's at on both my bikes.
When I bought my 2010 FXDB it had some vibration around that speed after the 500 mile babying.
I noticed that my exhaust had loosened up some. After making sure the brackets were tight and the flange bolts were torqued to stock, the vibrations were gone. This was when I had my 2 into 1 Thunderheader on the bike.
Another thing that resolved the vibration at other times in this RPM range was to richen the fuel mixture. I was running really lean in this RPM range in 6th gear. I did some smart tunes, and it cleaned up the vibrations.
Yes, my QD rattles if I do not have a passenger. Therefore I leave it off when I do not have a passenger. That is why I bought a QD sissy bar. Also black tape will work if you want to leave it on.
