ya im too new on this forum to hang with the cool guys yet.. so it has been pinpointed to a stock exhaust issue not motor mount issue, correct?
on the switchback it doesnt seem to be the engine mounts but the exhaust causing the resonance throughout the bike. a lot of the guys had full systems put on before they left the dealership and never experienced anything but the normal dyna vibration.
in my case they followed the TSB and found the main exhaust mount was not torqued to proper specs and when i got it back the vibration is what i would call dyna normal and rides nice at 80mph now.....

i tightened mine down a bit last night and they only showed up at 3000-3200 at first which was a dead give away that it is that exhaust but by the end of the night they came back just the same as before 2850-3400.. going to get it on the lift this weekend and figure it out
I just cured mine as well. I had the same bone-rattling vibes from 2800-3200 or so.
Seriously, it was enough to loosen the fillings in my teeth.
I had the TSB M-1324 performed twice by the dealer with no luck...
First thing I tried was loosening the front and rear isolators, 3 full turns, start the bike and run for about 30 seconds (rev a couple times) then torque back to spec.
That helped a bit.
Then I loosened the entire exhaust system and retorqued those back to spec as well, taking care to start at the head flanges and working back.
That helped a LOT.
BUT,the vibes were still very much there, they just weren't transmitting through the whole frame like they were before - IOW it was becoming tolerable.
Then I heard about loosening that flange bolt (center of the picture below)... I just took the damn thing out altogether and the vibes disappeared completely, 100% gone - mirrors are now smooth at all RPM's.
I may try as you did and reinstall it with some red loctite and just leave it loose a couple threads tomorrow.
thanks for the info. that fixed my vibs as well..easy *** fix!
I've owned four HD's and the FLD has the worst vibration problems in the 2800 to 3500 rpm range I've ever seen. It's the worst in 6th gear at 80mph plus.
I put a rubber washer in between the muffler and the mounting bracket as suggested. Tomorrow will tell if this is a good fix.
