Default 25mm Ohlins vs 30mm Ohlins

I see that Howard uses the 30mm Ohlins kit on 49mm forks but will a 25mm Ohlins cartridge system work on a 41mm forks? Or is there something about the weight of the bike and the size of the 25mm cartridge that wont work?

The best answer will come from Howard. Motorcycle Metal is a forum sponsor and all contact info is available by clicking on the site link.

Ohlins has never made a 41mm HD fork cap. The 25mm cartridges will not work inside of the 41mm fork tubes that have 0.165" walled tubing. In order for the oil to pass by the cartridges a thinner sidewall must be used. Special fork springs must be made in order to use with this cartridge kit. No big deal on that one. Since you have open ended triple trees, I believe but do not know for sure, liike the 2006 Dynas and not like the Baggers.

You would need new larger ID 41mm fork tubes, new one off fork caps, open ended top triple trees so they can be adjusted, and special made fork springs as well as an inner spring guide.

Easier to do on a 49mm so you can buy all of the parts necessary off of the shelf which are much stiffer due to cross section.
