I am considering to install the new reduced reach forward controls on my 2010 Street Bob. I am 5' 7" tall and 29" inseam. Anybody with this height who could give me some info about riding position if good or not. Do you reach comftable to ride safe?????
Any informationn appreciated... Thanks
I have the same messurments and run the standard forwards and also have the mid pegs still mounted. I think the reduce reach setup would make it just a bit better so I could maintain a little more bend in my legs.
This gives me good idea about my riding position. But one other question is>>>>>>>>>
Since you also rode the bike with the mid controls, would you go back to the mids??
I mean ... did you find the forwards to be the best of both??
i'm 5'8" and have been thinking of putting reduced reach fowards myself. have had the standard reach for 3 years now and am glad they finally come out with the shorter reach.
I'm 5'7" and have the reduced reach forwards. I've rode a few different dynas with the "standard" forwards and always felt like my legs were just a bit too short, or I was reaching a little more than I'd like too. I bought my street bob and it had mids on it. I rode it like that for like 500 miles or so and wasn't comfortable so I went a head and put on the reduced reach forwards. What a difference! For me it was the answer I was looking for.
Thanks a lot guys for your detailed info. I shall go for the reduced reach then and see how it ends up. Will let you know and post pics too when ready.
I think you will be happy witht he reduced reach I am 5'8 with the standards no bend in the legs but I have gottenn used to it I like the forwards better than the mids
When I bought my bike, at first I wasn't sure I liked the forward controls. Felt like my feet would slip off. You learn to relax and now I love them. I bought some Kurakyan "switch blades", heal rests and it's even better. I'm 5'11" with 32" inseem and my legs are a bit bent. In fact on long trips I rest my heels on the pegs.
One bit of advice is if you do long trips keep the mid pegs, (without the controls). I picked up a used set and it helped having another place to put yoour feet from time to time. I go on a two week tour every year and I bolt them back on while mounting windshield and luggage.
