Okay so I am deployed and my mind is running a 100mph all the time. So please bear with me. I have a couple questions.
First, what size are the factory bars on a Street Bob? 10? I have a 2010 FXDC and thinking about changing the bars soon.
Also, when I get the service manual, will it give me illustrations for changing the cables out. (ie. clutch, throttle)
From everything I have read on here and the internet, it isn't hard to swap bars but just takes time and patience. Please correct me if I am wrong. Dealer wants $1100 to swap out bars and cables. I think I could do it myself.
yes, the service manual will show you how to remove the cables. its not a hard task, like you said, takes time and patience. and yes, i do believe the bars are 10". plenty of write ups on here about wiring, cables, and complete bar installs. and if you run into any problems when your back and ready to install, there is plenty of people here who have done it and can help ya out. good luck
Hey thanks for getting back to me on this. Right now, it is me just putting the thought into it. I might have to wait until next winter to do the bars but we will see. I am getting the Dynojet PowerVision and air cleaner when I get home. I plan to order about a week before I leave so that it is there when I get home. As for the bars, thanks again for the input.
Now to figure out what bars I want. I am leaning towards apes about 12" as i don't want anything way up there. I had also thought about drag bars. I just have to make up my mind.
Here is mine in my sig pic with the street sweeper bars and I love them, my wife bought them and had them installed for me at the dealer. I think total price with install was right around 600 bucks and that was the bars, throttle cables and labor.
I had street slammers put on my Dyna and the total cost was $550...then I did it over again because I wanted black braided lines(Magnum}. It was easy but takes time going through the bars.
I am really liking those bars......Sweet bike by the way. So you did need new cables? Or did you just do them because you wanted to switch out the look? I didn't think you would have to do a cable swap with bars like those. Maybe I am wrong though. Any info would be helpful......
