This is the fender from Klock Werks that I am thinking about using.
Part Number 1401-0314 both on the kustombagger.com and in the drag book.
It comes smooth or frenched and either with a 2" or 6" stretch. I would get the 6" if my back end wasn't lowered already.

And MGS, thanks for thinking about making a fender for this to clean things up.

Default Mounting System

I'm probably wrong about this & missing something, but on the Dynas the exhaust brackets are hung off the engine/transmission,which is coupled to the swingarm & is all mounted on a rubber isolation system to decouple it from the frame(as we all know)isn't mounting the exhaust on brackets connecting to the rear Fender, recoupling everything back to the frame again, this sounds wrong but i'm sure one of you guys will correct me & put me straight.
Graham.

I believe you are correct, however I also believe that the Dressers have the same setup as you are referring to. I believe that when you hang the rear of the exhaust from the bag/fender support it not only has a rubber isolator used at the hanging point, it also lets braket and fender transfer/obsorb the vibration at the rear of the exhaust. So in a since it is rigid mounted to the frame, but not really!

Yep think I’ll have to join you and Jam on this one.
I have a good thing going now no need to change that.

Wow! Real evidence on how much better the Switchback looks compared to the Road King.

So I was cruising my FB wall and came across the V&H page. They have some pics from a recent parts show they did. They had some more pics of the system, three to be exact, one from the right side, one from the rear and one showing how it looks on the left side. I posted them below.

Hmmm ... got to thinking ... one could weld tabs off of either side of one of these ... (would have to either re-chrome it or powder coat it) ... this would take the load off the fender, although this is not a particular issue with FLD owners since their fenders come reinforced from the factory ....

Was also thinking about the early style crossover dual pipes like off the '08-earlier Touring models (the ones that angle back on the right side and over the primary on the left side) ... one could make a crossbar that would attach at the rear transmission mount and extend to both sides and then have a clamp (like the one under the cam chest) attach to each end of the crossbar ... that way the mount would be rubber mounted and move with the motor transmission assembly ...

Here's a rough diagram ...

The rear clamp off the fender bracket would have to be rubber mounted at the muffler attachment point ....

Of course the pipe would have to be modified to work on the Dyna (the head pipes angled a little more so the pipes will be horizontal) ...

* * *

It just occurred to me that this concept could probably be used to adapt Softail true duals for use with a Dyna, as well ... fishtails anyone ...?

I got to say the more I think about the duals & now that
I’ve seen them on a black FLD the more I like them.
Not enough to make the change on mine however, whew!

Wonder if other manufactures will join in on the FLD
dual list?

Thanks for the photos.

Well Perry time is on our side now that V&H came out with the first set so my guess would be that others will hop on board to try and compete with them
