My 2011 FXDC has the SERT, and has never given me any trouble that I have noticed, before or after the SERT. Seems to come on as soon as I shift into 6th, whether I have let the clutch out or not. Good luck with the bike ride safe!

Did you get the software and install it yourself? If not your dealer probably set it to the correct value so the 6 works as it should. Once I went in and changed mine it came on normally regardless of whether you get on it in 6th or short shift and loaf along.
PS - once my primary ratio was set to 1.306 (forget what the base is) the 6th indicator has worked normally - it has no other effect on the map you are using.
I have the TTS on mine and they used to build the SERT so are pretty similar to each other. Mine did the very same thing, if I didn't get on it hard at the shift it would not light the 6 up. The problem is/was with the primary drive ratio setting, it needs to be changed for the computer to recognize the change. I can look in my other computer later what it needs to be. Do you have the software and interface cable? If not you well need to take it to a dealer who does.
Yes, I have all that but haven't messed with it yet. Kind of skeerd to attempt it till I become a little more familiar with the software program. So, where do I find this "primary ratio" setting in the software? Is it in the advanced settings?
Since this SERT was installed by a certified dealer, I wonder if it could be a warranty item by another dealer. The reason I ask is the bike was originally purchased at a dealer about 80 miles north of me and programed there. I'll check with my local dealer and see if they can make it right. If not, I'll try going into the programing myself and find this primary ratio setting.
