I ordered a set of steel braided cables and brake line from Hill Country Cycles. The OL got them for me for my birthday. Anyway, I sent them an email asking if they were American made. Here is the response I received:
My email to them: Are these American made?
Their response: Yes, they are top of the line and made in the USA. It is the only brand that we use for all of our lines.
Thank you for contacting Hill Country Custom Cycles. Our goal is to provide you with the best service and products possible!
I got them shortly ago and they are made in Taiwan, all except the brake line.
So I call back and the sales person says, " I would never tell you that", "Here's what YOU need to do"....like I'm at fault..
Customer service....

Here is what they say on ebay:
There will be a 17% restocking fee on all items returned, or you can exchange it for something of equal or greater value.
I told them I want them to take them back and not charge me a restock fee, but the a-hole on the other end of the phone line was too busy trying to assert his authority to listen. A lady that works there told me to forward her the email I received stating that they told me they are American made.
If you got them on e-bay you can make a complaint to them about FALSE ADVERTISING..And if you used pay-pal you can make a complaint there too....Hope you saved the e-mail..
Here's something to think about before you go returning them too quickly. Will you be able to find what your looking for that is 100% American made? These days, that's very unlikely . But if you can, go for it. I agree with your thinking and agree they shouldn't have misled you but with the part already in your hand, is it worth it to you to fight the matter tooth and nail?
I have the email. Burley advertizes made in U.S.A. on their cable kits. The ones I got from Hill Country Custom Cycles are steel braided and that's why I ordered them. The black are fine if they are truely American made.
Yeah, that kind of gets my knickers in a knot too. Just go into your local "American Made Motorcycles" dealer and look at all the Harley accessories on the wall. I don't think any of them are made in America.
I don't fully expect everything to be made in America, but if I ask the question, get lied to and then get treated like **** after the fact, of course I'm going to be pissed. Here, let me send you $215 so you can lie to me and be shitty when I expect you to make it right.
