well, decided to go ahead and buy the slotted 6 spoke wheels from Harley for my 09 FXDC, got them for a little over 300 bucks apiece. They are back ordered, but I waited this long, what is another 4 weeks.
Well, I have a few questions for you all:
Do I only need to purchase their installment kit to have the wheels put on?
I have fairly new tires on them, they only have about 500 miles (if the much) each. Can I reuse them or should I wait? They are the stock brand and I checked online and they say they are both tubeless.
The wheels will come bare, so you will need the installation kit - the price seems high at first until you price a set of bearings, then you'll see its actually a pretty good price because you get all the spacers, valve stems, etc that you will need - no reason you couldn't re use your old rubber, mind you many will upgrade at this time - the stock rubber can be improved upon and has a few quirks.
+1. You don't want to reuse old bearings so get the kit. As for the tires, I'd definitely swap them over with only 500 miles on them. Unlikely you could resell them for anything close to what you paid and the only $ you'd save by upgrading to a different tire would be part of the installation cost.
