Default Well I couldn't NOT change SOMETHING

I'm changing out the spray-painted, 10-12" tall street bob bars with the swoopy, gull-wing look and 1" diameter for internal wired, 14", beefier, 1 1/4" diameter (1" at grips and risers), square-looking bars and some new 5-hole black levers that match the "speed-holes" i have drilled in my heat shields/belt cover/fender rail covers. Also, since my long-shot pipes now drag dangerously since the bike was lowered, i am chopping them up to the frame mount right at about the passenger pegs. Of course i ended up needing new cables for the bars so i am switching to black cables which will blend in better. PICS TO FOLLOW, sorry.

That's a good list!!! I told my wife last fall that I was all but done modding my '07, well waiting in the shop to be put on: Burley Street slammer front and rear, new tail light, new derby cover, replace SE stage 1 filter with K&N stage 1 filter, and put a new rear tire on. Needless to say the pile of parts is hiding hahaha.

Are those Santee bars in the pic you attached. They look like them and those are what I run. I like them a lot.

How about instead of cutting off and loosing the pipes, you cut them or better yet, take them to a muffler shop and have them mandrel bent and change the rear angle to sweep up,then all you would need is to get them repowdered. I to a pic of your bike and made a change to reflect what I am suggesting. I think that would flow with the direection you are going.

You're absolutely right, that would look great and i do like upswept pipes. Unfortunately i still use a quick detach bag on the right side which would get in the way. Also, i'm always trying to do everything on the real cheap with this bike. I'm probably going to cut the pipes short to right about where you made the bend. They will be longer than V&H short shots and i'm not going to stagger them. I had also thought about changing the pipes to a cheap set of street sweepers (pictured below) with black wrap but i just put in the effort last winter to drill and paint these pipes so im going to modify them first and if i don't like them, change them up somehwere down the road.

no they aren't the santee bars but they sure do look a lot like them it seems. They were a few dollars less expensive and made by MotoPower or something.

Default update

So, as mentioned, i made some changes. I ended up re-painting much of the bike except for the tins (did it myself using epoxy.) Once i got the new, beefy, glossy bars on, the other matte, chipping parts looked even more rough. So i put the bike on the lift, took off the front wheel and went to town on some stuff. I painted the fork sliders, trees, between the trees, switch houseings, speedo, primary, horn cover, shift arms, newly chopped pipes, fuse cover, coil cover, got a new battery cover and painted it etc.

While i had the front wheel off i took a wire brush to the rotor and polished the front and back. I also checked the primary chain tension, etc etc. I also had to fabricate a new rear signal bracket b/c i broke the last one, oops.

The two things i don't have a pic of here are the black "Hold Fast" sailor jerry bottle opener i mounted to the new battery cover and the new 5-hole black hand levers.

While it all doesn't seem too drastic, changing to these sweet bars, chopped pipes and fresh gloss paint has made a world of difference. Just need to wash the bike for once!
