From what I've read, I'll be ok. I found the Kuryakyn 2nd generation forward controls and they offer a short version so I will be ordering those for the bike when I get it.

Just giving my experience...not trippin at all. Maybe it was the little O-ring pegs, but my feet felt like they were slipping...Dude.

Hey Joe and Mascman,
When you used the 2003-2005 kit on your 2006, did you use the ~ 13" rod that came with thekit or did you have to get the longer ~ 15" rod that would come with the '06 kit?

Iused whatever came in the 2005 kit. Everything bolted right on with no probs.

I thought it was the older styles that had a different rod?

Only thing i see is that the brake ros is very close to my new Python 2-1 exhaust...might just give a little tweak for clearance. There were no issues at all with the Shortshots i had previosly.

I put an '03 kit on mine and the 13' worked, but would strike the top of the primary every now and then,, started to notice a mark developing on the primsry so I changed to the 15" and it gave me much more adjustment options..

Thanks guys, sounds like the shorter shifter rod works but the longer one might be better. I'mtrading the '03 Wide Glide fora new FXDC in a couple months, or whenever it comes in ,and trying to figure the best way to do this.
Mascman, the brake rod on myWide Glide comes within 1/8" of the front header pipe on my V&H 2-1 also. In '06 the shifter rod got a couple incheslonger than it had been, not sure why. The stock rod on mine is just a hair over 13" between bolts.

If you'e shorter and you have a thicker/wider seat you will probably have more trouble reaching the controls. Im 5'7" and I had no problems riding my uncles SuperGlide w/ H-D forward controls. But he had the 2up stripper seat, and its small and skinny.

Maybe the shorter rod is an issue the farther out you put the shifter? Maybe if you move the shifter on the spline it would get more clearance.

I was just checking it today and didn't have a problem with it hitting on the primary. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
