"Proof"???? What proof have you presented? None, only opinions from magazines and your independant mechanic (who is just one individual, and his opinion is subjective as well, not scientific). The only way to truely prove your statement either correct or incorrect would be to take two of the exact same bikes off of the factory assembly line, do the full Stage 1 on one bike, and just intake and exhaust on the other, and run them at the track until one of them blew up or quit running (due to something related to the intake, exhaust, heat, or burnt valves) and them make a determination.
Wow, isn't that a little extreme ? Couldn't you just monitor the AFR and see if it is running in the acceptable range ? Would you need that same proof if your tuner tuned the bike ?
Why is that so funny? Why do some need a complete rebuild at 50k while others go 100-150k? How many miles do you put on in a year? C'mon man, do the math
I'd bet none of that had anything to do with whether or not someone had a fuel enrichener or not.. Most engine rebuilds are because of rider abuse, poor maintenance or upkeep. I have a friend with a 2006 StreetGlide, with a bone stock engine except for slipons and SE airbox with simple download. He has well over 100,000 miles, approaching 120,000 actually, with zero problems.

After i installed my V&H slip-ons and a new air cleaner, I noticed that under heavy acceleration, my bike actually had a little more pulling power at 3/4 throttle than it did at wide open throttle. I noticed this because as I backed off the throttle from wide open it would actually pull harder for a moment. It did not correct itself after 300 or 400 miles. At cruising speeds while in closed-loop mode, it was fine of course. That seemed suspiciously like a fuel mapping issue to me. Got a SEPST, had it dyno tuned and the problem was gone.

What are you talking about? I didn't say I needed proof. I said that his statement wasn't proof, that it was opinion. And what are you talking about "if my tuner tuned my bike"? I did have Jamie at fuelmoto tune my bike, and I've got the dyno sheets that show my AFR.

All I'm saying Jeff is that my bike runs smoother without a tuner. I don't have Dyno evidence or "proof" but I do trust the experts I have spoken with...
Pretty sure a download does more than just raise rev limit. It will still maintain 14.7-1 AFR during closed loop (where you spend most of your time) but I do believe it changes parameters in open loop. But all bikes that come off the line can have variations, and the life they live can mean that those changes may not be enough. It really comes down to your bike and which replacements you use.

That's great and I wish you and your bike well, but I'd still spend a few bucks and a couple of pulls on a synonymous just to be sure your AFR is acceptable. That fifty bucks or so would give me piece of mind if it were mne. You do as you wish though, and hope it works for you.
