But, I think the whole point/question is.......will a bike run OK with just the dealer download without doing any damage or running too hot? Most people, the ones I know anyway, could care less about squeezing every last ounce of HP out of their engines. They just want the bike to run OK, sound better, and not be hurting the life expectancy of the engine. I believe the simple download/flash/ whatever you want to call it, does that. If someone believes the simple download is hurting my engine (and I know lots of guys who've told me just that), show me some damage done from not installing a tuner, or having it dyno'ed. If you can prove to me I'm hurting my bike by not installing a tuner and dyno-ing it, I'll be the first in line to fix that. But I see no evidence of it. Show me some, and I'll gladly get a tuner. I'm not talking about improved HP numbers either, I'm talking about damage to my engine and shortening it's life. So far, I've seen a lot of high mileage bikes with just the download, and they've had no problems at all. As I said, I have two friends with high mileage touring bikes, that get ridden in all kinds of weather, two up 99% of the time, 75-80 mph on the interstates for hours on end, up mountains, down valleys, in the cold, in the heat, in the rain, and a few times even in the snow, in all kinds of conditions, and their bikes still run like new. Sounds to me like the simple download works.

I just get tired of hearing people say/post that--------->"that download is a waste of money, you're gonna ruin your bike just running that, what a ripoff, you're leaving a lot of HP on the table, you're still running lean, you're gonna shorten the life of your engine, it does nothing for your bike, get some Xieds, etc." <-----Those things get said DAILY by so many people that I've lost count. Seems to be just the opposite in the real world.

Yes, it will run just OK. No, it probably won't blow up. Xieds richen it up a tad but still don't make any power. If you don't really care about a little decel pop, think it runs fine and don't want any more power then just keep riding it. I recently tuned an '01 fat boy that had over 100k on it with a download. He couldn't be happier with how it runs now.

I enjoy reading EVERYONE'S comments on this subject.

I have V&H slip-ons and SE air cleaner kit (both came on it when I bought it) I did add XiED's (13.8 is better than 14.6). While I did not notice any performance gains, I was not expecting any either. I did notice an exhaust and engine oil temperature drop as well as ALMOST all of the decel popping is gone. Which is what I wanted and for $99 the price was right. I like getting what I want from a purchase...yipee!

If you are looking for a performance increase XiED's are NOT what you want. If you want a cooler running engine and to decrease or possibly eliminate decel popping XiED's are what you want.

That's my review of XiED's.
I am not a performance specialist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Thanks!

Sorry, I made a comment in this thread a couple pages back and mentioned that I'm going to be installing a tuner on my new bike before I do ANY mods. Just showing it off cuz I just finalized the deal yesterday and was/am very excited.
But yes, this thread did need something fun and interesting...

I didn't bother reading the whole thread after I read the genius comment that the fuel injection will adjust for airflow. ok Einstein how does it do that without a mass air flow sensor. wow is all I gotta say.

The O2 sensors will do some of that work.
I believe that's the topic when folks talk open vs closed loop systems.
