hey guys. so my bike is all set, figure i would take it around the block to check it out before dyno... first gear good, 2nd gear good, 3rd gear... not good
3rd gear under load "spings' sounds like a gear skipping... before i go back in and rear off the primary, inner, pulley, and start to get into the trans. anyone have any sugestions or ideas what may cause this?
i am running lucas 75/90 in the trans for the first time, usually i run sever gear amsoil.. i know this has min affect just wanted to make sure you knew. ANY ideas or things i can check to narrow this issue down? oooh ya 4th gear pulls no problem.
The cheapest and quickest way to check would be change out the fluids, back to what you were using, and double check what is happening with the original fluids, if it's still doing the same thing or not.
Sometimes it's just the differences in fluids (don't ask why, it just sometimes is). I have heard this a couple of times this past year with people who are trying different composition fluids, whether it be the viscosity or additive differences, who knows. Though they said once whatever they had been using was back in the bike, the bike ran OK for them.
Again, this is just hear-say, as I have been using the same fluids since I bought the bike. Although I always add a touch of Lucas additive to all fluids (I like the lubricating properties of the stuff).
hope it is a slippery clutch over trans! only way to tell is to get up, shift though the gears and lightly power on in 3rd with the tire off (no load) and see if it grinds or spins... if it spins that means my dogs are prob not engaging and puts me at a clutching issue... that would be 1000% better than a trans!
on a side note... the 2-1 pipe 10000000% better sound than any pipe i have ever had! LOVE the way this sucker sounds now! I JUST WANNA DYNO!!!!! hahaha ahhh always something
