Good evening, I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I have a question about removing the transmisson cover on a Street Bob. I did a search on the subject and did not have any luck, so I thought I would post. I am changing to the black fin covers and the manual states to drain the tranny, before removing the clutch cover..Is this right? I must have misunderstooda post that I read previously on changing covers.... Is there anything I need to know about the timing cover?
Thanks,
jdog
Are you sure that you will be changing the tranny cover and not the primary derby cover. Either way you will have to drain the fluids. The timing cover is a piece of cake, just remove the screws and replce the new cover with the screws.
Soup,
Thanks for your reply. I have changed my derby cover before without changing the primary fluid...You just have to make sure the bike is level on a 2X4...It looks like I might have to drain the tranny fluid to take the clutch/tranny cover off...
Thanks
jdog
Okay the reason for the search problem "Tranny" not Transmission
Go to the web sight www.Lean-Right .com. There is a tool that does just that makes you bike lean right so you can do work on the left side with no problem of having the bike fall over.I have been having one for a few years and I like it.
