I got the Harley Detachable touring windshield. It sure makes it pleasant to ride on Thirty Degree nights.

Once you ride with a windshield, you won't take it off. I never
took mine off even in the two years I lived in Florida.

Not everyone is the same. I didn't have a windshield for 39 years. I had one on my '05 Yamaha, and I liked it. It kept the bugs and rocks away, and it was easier to hang on at high speed.
I bought my Harley in Feb '06, tried the mid and tall quick releases, and they had the most awful buffeting and wind whip noise.
I put the tool bag above the light, and I have no head/chest buffeting, no whip noise, and little wind pressure.
I like the ride better. I like a face shield better.

Windshields are great. I took mine off for a 90 mile ride and when I got back, I put it right back on, and it has not been off since. Mine is on a 95 Low Rider, and then again it may be an age thing. Older Rider.

I like my cruiser without the windshield in summer, so once it's warm enough to go without then it's off til late fall...

In winter (if you ride in chilly/colder weather that is) it's invaluablecuz the wind chill factor at 75 mph at 40 degrees is breath-taking. You'll find that you can ride later into the season or year-round if you have a windshield.

Once you GET USED TO HAVING A WINDSHIELD ON THE BIKE then it's a bit of an eye-opener when you take it back off again (at freeway speeds I mean), but you do get used to it and soon enough won't really notice the wind at all after a day or so.

If you live in a place with lots of bugs then I'd say it's a great thing too. Where I live we don't have alot of bugs in the desert, so not as much of a problem as it might be in the southeastfor example...

Yes, it's a good investment, but make it a quick-detachable type!
