Hi all. I have been attempting to sell my 2010 SUper Glide Custom since Jan with no success. I've advertised on Cycle Trader, HD-classifieds.com, e-bay and Craigslist. I've included multiple photos and detailed descriptions of the bike in all ads. I've been asking 11k, which is very reasonable according to the KBB and other pricing guides.
THe only responses I've gotten have been the predictable craigslist scams and a couple of something-for-nothing types who thought they were going to get the bike for practically free. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a reflection of the economy in general? Looking forward to hearing from you, ride safe.
I think it's the economy.
There are tons and tons of used bikes for sale right now.
If you have to get rid of it, I would say you'll probably have to keep lowering the price until it sells.
If you don't have to get rid of it, you might want to just hang on to it?
I'm not saying you have it overpriced, I'm just saying there's lots of used bikes out there and people that are looking for used are looking to spend the least amount of money because of the economy.
From Black Book Powersports:
Year: 2010 Make: Harley-Davidson Model: FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom Model Type: Cruiser Displacement: 1584 Cylinders: 2
Finance Advance: $10,350
MSRP: $12,999
Avg Retail: $11,765
Auction Wholesale $10,205
Clean Trade: $9,530
Fair Trade: $8,560
I did a quick search of Harley dealers and found 2 bikes like yours for 12k with less than 2k miles on them. Assuming they would take $11,500, I would rather buy from a dealer than a private party. If you want to get 11k wait til peak riding season, May, and if it hasn't sold, you are asking too much.
My 02.
I was going to say the same thing. Lets see a pic of it. Also have you ever posted it here for sale? I was just checking the classifieds and i dont see your bike at all for sale. With reguards to selling. I think its the economy and i think someone may say to themselves that they could spend 2k more and get a brand new one. Give or take.... Either way post a pic, or at least put a pick of your bike in your signature. You are trying to sell it........
Take it to the dealer and ask them to give you a buy bid on it. Add another thousand on that and that will be close to what you can sell it for. I personally think if you really want to sell it I would put it up for 9900. Good luck
Lower the price. IMO you don't have it over priced, but it also doesn't scream "good deal".
If you are getting zero action it can only mean one thing. It aint priced right for your market.
I think bike pricing is a regional thing too. When I was shopping for a used Dyna a few months ago I couldn't touch a low mileage 2010 for under $11K anywhere around here. I ended up buying a 2008 Fat Bob for $11K, and I felt like I got a great deal.
Economy,
What is a new custom selling for OTD? compare your price as per new and remember the 13s are right around the corner.
