Street Bob dash is at the Chromers! DONE 1/05/07!!!
Since Harley hasn't offered us a Chrome dash for the Bobs, I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands!
I think the chrome dash (and flush mount cap/guage set up) is going to make that Vivid black tank just pop! It's the one thing that I just absolutely had to have done.
Price was $125.00, but since there's non available, what can you do?
That's where my dash is as we speak !My tank is vivid black. The stock black dash doesn't look right. I priced going to a low rider setup and after I picked myself up off the floor I decided tochrome the stock part. I agree that it will look great. It will let the fat bob tank look like it is suposed to.

What are they chargeing you if you don't mind me asking.
To be honest ...I don't know yet. My buddy is an electroplater and can easily chrome the part for a sip or two of good whisky. He wants to send the part out to have the existing powder coating properly removed. (a solvent or acid dip of some sort) There will be a small fee for this service. ??$$
$ 125.00 USD that you mentionseems a little expensive but Iwould pay that to have this done. Really, if you think about it its not much when you consider the proccess.
Yeah, I was thinking $100 should cover everything, but even ifI sent it out and got a better price, the shipping would probably make it about the same or even more.
I can't help but think this is a cake job for them.
Basically, the chemical stripper will remove the wrinkle finish leaving them with pretty much a brand new part. how hard is that to work with?!
I saw car parts there that were pitted and looked like they would take a lot of work to look new again.
They probably figure if you have a Harley then you are used to paying high prices!!
I honestly don't mind paying a little more to have a local guy do the job. In case there is a problem, we can talk face to face and i don't have to hassle with shipping expenses.
The chromer said that underneath the wrinkle finish, there were a lot of marks from the piece being pressed into shape.
He said that he spent a little more timesmoothing it than he thought he would, but it came out nice.
I just set it on the tank to get you guys a pic because i know how anxious some ofyou get!
I took the tank to the painter where he will scuff and apply my custom decals and give it a couple coats of clear.
Ihave also ordered the flush mount kit which should make this an awesome looking set up when it's done. Maybe not BOTM material, butI think this bike is going to be a very clean and cool looking machine...it already is to me anyway!
