I have about 17000 km on my 05 dyna with laced wheels, I do a lot of off season riding living up in Ontario Canada there is a lot of salt on the roads late in the fall and early in the spring .... hell it was 9 degrees celcius yesterday and I was out riding all day long, .... I have maybe polished the spokes individually on my bike twice , spray it off with a hose and pass close by with a sponge or cloth but that's about it ... store the bike in the winter (except yesterday .. lol) and my spokes are still like new ... it is most likley due to living near teh ocean .. a pain staking slow drawn out hour after hour long wax job will help to protect from the salt ... some will think I am screwed but I have had the best luck with the old fashioned cheap, Turtle wax .... that crappy green creamy liquid ... say what you will but I like it, and it works and lasts great .. to get the crap off the rims and clean up the pitting I would use (again) regular, cheap old fashioned SOS pads ...

I agree w/ Acid, keep the wheels rolling and you won't have time to notice the spokes. Mine gets a bath about 12 times a year...it's a trade-off for quiet, country livin'!
