Some cool stuff going on here.
A quick tip for those interested.
PlastDip worked great on my stock side-mount license plate, but it started peeling on my upper shock-bolt covers. (Probably didn't prep it good enough.)
Anyway, since the shock-bolt covers are cheap on EBay and can be replaced in about 3 1/2 minutes (with a beer in one hand), I experimented with rattle-can truck bed liner from Duplicate-Color (Lowes or Home Depot for about $6.)
This stuff goes on easy and leaves a very hard surface that looks like wrinkle black PC (sorry Joe!)
I know PlastiDip is cool because you can just peel it off, but if you're looking for something permanent, this stuff works. Durable and virtually impossible to remove.
It's on my tank badges too. They look like a piece of iron.
For an extra sharp clean edge get fine line tape from an automotive paint supply house. And always pull the tape back onto itself when unmasking (if that makes sense)

looks good.
thanks for the tip, i have pondered using the truck bed liner a few times (wondered about rock guard too)
Not sure if anyone touched on this yet, but dipyourcar.com has all of the Plasti Dip colors and enhancers available. They also have a great YouTube channel that shows how to use the product and it's different applications.
This stuff is really durable. I dipped the wheels on my truck and it's held up to 2 Midwest winters just fine. I plan to paint the tins on my bike orange and spray silver Metalizer over the top.
OK so if I understand this right, anything I want a sharp edge with I will do about 4 costs with about 10 minutes in between and when I peal the tape it wont take the plasti-dip with it? I am going to do me fork tubes and triples and don't want to peal it off while pulling it
Also, has anyone tried doing the rocker boxes? I have my tank off already from doing a bar swap and thought about doing them but am afraid of the heat being an issue?
do not do your rocker boxes. the dip will melt. as far as peeling it goes........you want to do 4 heavy coats with 10 mins in between, peel the tape while the last coat is still wet! or you will not get clean lines! if your dipping in anything under 50 degrees, WARM YOUR CANS IN HOT WATER SO YOU GET A GOOD SPRAY CONSISTENCY. take it from me boys........ i dipped my whole bike flat red.
