So I couldn't find Plasti Dip in silver locally but I did manage to find Rustoleum's version in silver. Color is great. However, it does not peel at the edge without some help from a knife. Looks good for now but will be redoing it in Plasti Dip when I can find it in silver. Approx. 6 coats
yet another set of wheels ruined from plasti dip! everyone keeps posting how great and safe this is, we deal with it on a daily basis and consistently find heavy damage under it... so i will keep posting pics when we come across **** like this
This makes the 5th set of wheels and 2 sets of tins i have posted with heavy damage... but hey it says online it is safe right, must be!
i have seen it eat into clear on tins, into alum on wheels, to the point where we had to use building primer just to get them close enough to smooth them out, and 24v when we tried to polish it out it started to show copper in the under plating. ya not good
Looking at how poorly it peeled off those rims (bits and pieces) It was put on to thin. Not enough coats. Thin = pin holes you cant see(very small)
Moisture gets under it and corrodes the wheel. When enough coats are used(4 or 5) it peels off in dam near one sheet.
I peeled off a set of clear coated aluminum wheels on my dodge magnum after 3 years on the road........They looked like new.
This has been my experience
we have seen this come off nicely and not harm the metal i would say about 1 in 5 parts we get... not every time. Just seems like on big jobs we get in they are always ruined
