Hello all. This line is leaking on my ride, and I dont know what it is for or what type of fluid this is. Can I replace this line myself and is this a common issue? thanks for all the help and I need to get home to start riding my scoot with nice weather
That line is the clutch cable. It screws into the transmission outer cover, and transmission oil can go into the outer housing to lubricate the cable. Either the cable housing is cracked and fluid is leaking out that way, or it's leaking where the cable housing screws into the transmission cover.
As far as replacing the clutch cable, I don't know if you have the mechanical ability to do that or not. You need to loosen it at the adjuster, disconnect it at the clutch lever, and remove the outer transmission cover. You may need to remove you exhaust to remove the outer trans cover, depending on the bike and exhaust.
After removing the outer trans cover, you need some sturdy snap ring pliers to disconnect the end of the clutch cable at the transmission cover. The cable then unscrews from the cover.
Installation is the reverse, and be sure to put a new gasket on the transmission cover.
