Default Vance Hines Pops

I recently purchased a new Wide Glide and had Vance Hines Big Radius pipes installed. They pop when downshifting/decelerating and usually one good POP when upshifting from 1st-2nd-3rd. Sounds like backfire. Is this healthy/normal?

A pop is usually a sign that the bike is running to lean or an exhaust leak. Does the bike have a high flow air filter? A tuner?

I finally dont feel like such a newbie now cause I have seen this topic so much in my short time here!!! New pipe and no tuner, yep, you will get pops! Does it hurt the bike? I rode for a couple of months like that before I got my new a/c and tuner and never had any problems.

I have always thought decel pops were from a rich condition. It takes a buildup of fuel to make the explosion in the pipe (which is what you hear).

Am I missing something?

The bike is new (2012) and was dyno tuned at the dealership. It has a screaming eagle breather. What is this tuner y'all speak of? Can the dealer make an adjustment? One of the chrome tips on the black pipes is starting to discolor. I assume it's from the fire popping at the end of the pipe.

After market pipes and no tune… you will most likely get the dreaded POP. I have aftermarket pipes, air and tuner (see sig) and still get a “small” amount of pop, but only when decelerating hard and not under normal riding conditions. BL, get it TUNED when you start changing stuff out.
