I'm 6'4, mids aren't an option. Before I got the bike from my dad, he had mids with highway pegs. When I would ride it I would keep my feet on the highway pegs and shift with the back of my boot heel
I did the same thing for a year with my 02' lr. A very generous member on this forum gave me a set of Harley forward controls and I love them. I put the joker machine pegs on and they are great as well. I have been thinking of putting my mid footrests back on just for somewhere else to put my feet for longer rides. About the only thing that tires me out on long rides is the wind blowing my legs apart.
How difficult is it to switch from forward to mid for a guy with pretty much no mechanical knowledge but a lot of patience (and a couple of Great sage who happen to be all of you?)
anyone have an idea on how hard switching from fwd to mid is ?
Depends if you still have the shift linkage tube in the primary. Forwards don't use that and hook up directly to the trans shift lever.
Forwards for me for comfort. Mids are higher performance of course, but this is a cruiser not a sport bike, ok maybe a sport cruiser, but a cruiser never the less. If I really cared about twistie performance I would buy a sport bike. Just saying
That said, wouldn't mind putting just the mid pegs on for a 2nd position...
Thanks for the info photo appreciate it a lot especially at that time of the night guess i'll keep the fwd (not so sure about the tube since the stealer ship did the job of going from mid to fwd) for my dad
Hi I installed floorboards on the forward peg mounts and lift the forward controls on. now I have room to move on long rides with no mid controls or pegs .
I'm 6'2 and have been really wanting to go with forward controls but after reading some of the responses I'm having second thoughts. I'm not terribly uncomfortable with the mids but I do feel the need to stretch out after about 30 minutes of riding. Perhaps I should just go with Hwy pegs. I'm rather long legged and I think I look foolish when riding with my legs hiked up on the mids. I know I shouldn't care how I look but....
