Default Is the FLD top heavy ?

I rented the SWITCHBACK when I went to FL. this winter and a couple of times while reversing direction I had to throw my foot down ! ( scared the f#%* out of me ). It was almost like I was turning around on a steep hill If any one else knows how that feels. I was riding two up. I rented the SLD because I was considering trading in my FXDF. but i think If I did that I would end up dumping the bike so I am keeping the fat bob!

I sure don't think the Switchback is top heavy at all, handles great IMO. I have had bikes that I thought I was going to dump every time I came to a stop but it sure ain't the FLD.

This is probably what messed you up. Even w/ an experienced passenger. Bikes w/ large fairings and Tour-Pak's will be much more top heavy.

For me not even close to having any handling problems.
Yes the first time out it could be considered scary
because it is so easy to maneuver.

I'll echo what the others have said, and add that after three RKC's in a row (which can be a bit of a trial at low speeds) from the first time I threw a leg over my FLD I was sold! So much easier to handle than the King. Give it another shot - it's a GREAT all around bike!

Road mine two up with this bag on through the mountain twisties. Have been riding for 28yrs, have 7k on my FLD. I think it handles well, I can easily do u-turns on a two lane with it, but it is a large 715lb machine. All depends on what your comparing it to and some time in the saddle with it.

With both the Spousal Unit and myself, 2 weeks worth of luggage, a full 6 gallon fuel load, on my Ultra Classic, I figure it must be close to 1,400 lbs going down the road. It has never felt top heavy. The only bike that ever felt top heavy to me was an 883 Sportster of all things!

Mine feels like a sportsbike compared to the Yamaha venture (full dresser) I used to have.

thanks for everyones input. I too am only 5'5 155 lbs. My FAT BOB has a windshield,sissybar/rack, and bags. I think because my feet where forward I wasn't use to the handling. (my FXDF has mid controls and I ride almost as bad as CENTERLINE ) I am glad everyone is happy with their rides , they all look SWEEEEET!!!
