Default What A Tangled Web we Weave

First of, I plan on doing most if not all of the wrenching on my new Wide Glide. So I purchased a new sissy to increase the comfort level for my BOSS!. Turns out, the tall sissy ( the one that I like ) only comes with the quick disco mount. So I have to install the quick disco system also. But! In order to install the quick disco, I have to install the tail light relocation system. BUT! To install the tail light relo system, I have to remove the rear fender. BUT! To remove the rear fender, I have to raise the bike and drop the rear shocks! Has anyone done this before? Is it really that hard?
Thanks for ANY advice.
Randy

Why make it so complicated?

Just install the standard one. Be happy.

Ya, easier said than done. I picked out the sissy that I liked and alread purchased the parts from the dealer. Well actually still waiting on the quick release kit. I Unboxed the parts that I got to admire them. And started reading through the install directions. I did plan ahead a little. I had already purchased the service manual a couple days before. Good thing to. Because some of the directions say: "See The Service Manual".

FX, the instructions are just the manufacturer’s opinion.....

I think I know which sissy bar you are talking about. I put one on my bob with the quick disconnects and re-located turn signals. I didn't remove the fender or even consider it. It's a little tricky/tedious, but doable. Your rear fender is a bit different then mine, but I would think it's still possible with out ripping apart the whole rear end.

Ya I'm suer that the Instructs are what is recommended by HD. No wonder labor costs are so high at the dealer. But as per my research thru this forum, I believe that someone mentioned that the WG's are a little more difficult than the Bob's. I posted this hopeing that someone might have a little more insight than me. Like I said, I planed on doing the renching on my new ride. But I kinda hoped to start with something small. Like an oil change. I'll post up info on my install after completion. I ordered a rack today. Figured that I would just do everything I wanted to the rear end all at once.

I installed the quick disconnect system on my 2010 Wide Glide and it is not that bad, don't let the instuctions scare you, it's an easy evening project. Just take your time, go step by step and you should be fine.
