i laughed when i pulled the baffles on my stock slip-ons. same baffles you have there with the fiberglass blanket wrapped around them. its sad more than anything....
It is. What made me pull them out finally, as I was enjoying the quiet smooth ride of the stock setup, was I had to go WOT today to avoid an idiot while getting on a freeway, and the bike just pinged and didn't go. It did not go at all. Just went vroooooooooo, but zero getup.
The 2009 baffles do not have that potato bomb on top. Anyway. I put in my Cycle Shack 1546's, and now the bike is back to hauling some a$$ again..
And the sound is good, and the resonance that my TH had isn't present. So I am content at this time, which probably wont last long. I talked with my neighbors, and they all said, "ride what you like, it sounds good."
I know it doesn't matter what they think, but it does if I have to live around them. Hate having neighbors pissed at you. Makes for a shitty living situation.

The heat shields on the mufflers were a dead give away that they put the cats in the mufflers......the previous years had no heat shields on the mufflers because they dont get nearly as hot without the cats in them.....first time Ive seen them pulled out though....
Ah. They are fun to look at now. I have some 2009 baffles that fit also if the Cycle Shack 1546's get to be an issue with volume.
If the Cycle Shacks get to be to loud for my taste, I'll doctor up the 2009 baffles for fun, and if that doesn't work, I take your advice, and just whack the potato off.
i cut it off on one of them and im letting you know now, if you plan on doing that youll have to add something in place of the potato so that it doesnt rattle around. one thing im gonna try today maybe is try and gut the potato in the other one. if i do it ill let you know how it goes.
dumb question, but exactly how do you remove the baffles from the stock pipes?
remove your slip-ons and underneath you will find rivets there. Drill out the rivets and then knock the baffles out towards the back of the slip-on muflers. when you replace them just use self tapping screws.
