Just ordered the XiED's for my '10 WG. Hopefully the decel popping I've had since i put my V&H Big Radius 2->2 pipes on will go away. I was naive in the sense that I was 'ok' with decel popping/backfiring since I thought it was expected with aftermarket pipes and no air cleaner change.
What should I expect from the XiED's other than lower temps? Should I expect the decel popping to go away.
edit:
An air cleaner upgrade and real controller is on the radar of things to get in the future. I'm probably going to do a stage 2, pistons/cams/etc.
They will greatly reduce or eliminate the decel popping. Not a replacement for a good tuner/dyno, but they work well. I ran them on my Sporty with pipes/ac & they worked great.
Your bike will run cooler...after install on my Sporty, oil temps dropped about 10-15 degrees.
Also, buy the SE breather kit..will make a big difference.
I installed them today and put about 10 miles on them.
After the first few miles of riding like a hooligan I was grinning like a dumb SOB. The bike is A LOT more consistent during hard throttle runs. Shifting into second is a f'ing blast, its no longer jerky and is smooth. Decel popping still exists along with the occasional backfire but I'd definitely go on a limb to say it is greatly reduced.
Another thing to note, I didn't really notice a reduction in temp. It still felt hot as hell after sitting at a stoplight for 2-3 minutes. Maybe it wasn't "AS HOT". Can't tell for sure as I don't have the metrics for my temps. rsMy only regret is not being able to do a full WOT run through all of the gears. That's going to have to wait until I can get my *** on the NJTP or somewhere else.
By no means is this a replacement for a real fuel controller, but if you're trying to do something on the cheap, XiED is for you.
I used the Xieds for a year but only with slip-ons, now with a high flow intake and 2 into 1 exhaust it was time a tuner.
For the money the Xieds are great!
Ive been running them for a couple of years with my 2 into1 and ness a/c and bike runs great. I picked up about 2mpg, probably because I'm able to use 6th gear more. I have heard reports from ppl with 2 into 2 systems still having decel popping, Im guessing its from less restriction than the 2 into 1's?
Don't expect to notice any temp difference sitting at a stoplight, anyone's bikes will get hot with no air flowing.
After I ran my pipes for awhile (bike didn't like high RPM accelerations) I installed xied's and a/c at the same time. I was grinning like a dumb SOB too
Received in the mail yesterday and installed last night. Easy install...took all of maybe 15 minutes. Rode the bike in to work today but in stop an go traffic, haven't really noticed any difference in performance yet.
