Bought a kury roll bag for small trips. Put it on, I don't take it off. It stays on the bike all the time. I wear a FF helmet too, this setup works great for me and I don't think the bag looks bad on my bob either. I need to take more pictures, whole front end is blacked out now and headlight is different...but you get the point.
I got a bunch of trash from buying an 09 with the silver cases...but now that it was the only year produced like that, I enjoy it not looking like everyone elses.
try arlen ness quarter fairing it's a cali style i like it and it works for me takes the heavy blast off my chest still feel the wind but not heavy from stomach to your chest like i said it works for me
I may not put 22000 miles a year on mine but its far from a bar hopper. If the majority of my ride was interstate Id defenitly have a fairing and windshield..........wait I do.........on my Lincoln The only time Im on the interstate is when Im leaving or approaching Atlanta. 20 miles out Im off the interstate and dont touch it again till I return. The short period of time Im on the interstate doing 75-85 the wind sucks, combine that with the boring *** ride.......I just avoid them.
Yeah, adding something other folks think is uncool, or silly to yer bike after it leaves the factory, This Is Madness!
Madness?
Dude, really?
HAHA! Simmer down fella. I only said LOL @ thread because some of the comments were funny. I don't care if you want a windshield on a Dyna. Some people say riding with a FF helmet is for suckas too but I wear one because I kinda need my brain to earn income to pay for my bike.
I personally don't like windshields added to bikes but if the OP wants one, that's cool with me. I was just offering the suggestion to get one of those quick-release windshield so he could take if off for Bike Nights or whatever.

It's cool, man, no offense intended. Went with the da funny ***** jest to get across that I think it's all kinda funny too.
After a couple of years I bought a HD touring windshield, hasn't been off since. Made every ride a heck of a lot more enjoyable.
I have the HD QD Touring windshield too, takes all the wind pressure away from the body, but buffetting is horrible and wind noise is by far worse than without a shield. By the way I wear a Schuber C3, which is one of the quietest helmets available and I also wear foam earplugs. The only way to eliminate the buffetting is going down on top of the tank like if you were on a rice racer, but that's not comfortable. I do a lot of highway long distance touring and I'm a bit disappointed with this (expensive) windshield. Last Saturday it was really warm (85°) and I felt very warm and sweating even travelling at 80mph as the wind was all blocked off and not cooling me.
I've experimented making my own deflectors, "fangs" style, but no added benefit, just the worry that they may block wind on the way to the engine.
I'm considering either cutting the windshield down dramatically or go for a solution like the kury roll bag to get the air out of my chest, but let my head to receive the full blast of the wind, no buffeting and way less noise.
Anybody has positive experiences about this touring shield? It may have different effect depending on the body built, I'm 5'9..
I use a H-D touring shield w a laminar lip on it to stop the helmet buffeting. Spring and summer riding here in the Texas coast area, a shield is a welcome protector from the gazillion bugs and the heat blast that can take your breath away at highway speeds.
dirtdreamer - would this laminar lip be on the top of the windshield and facing fwd? how do you find the wind noise level compared to without the shield altogether?
