best way to cheat the wind?
I look forward to the new riding season every year without a windshield. At the beginning of the new season it puts a real strain on my arms to ride the interstate but after a few weeks it gets easy to do.
I do, however, use a full face on the interstate and it helps.
OP If you want a windshield go out and get one they do work.
And as for the whole windshields are for pu55ie5 schtick, I'm not buyin it, typical forum noise that's all. Makes for funny reading though. Just comes with the territory because people's styles are so different. I do appreciate folks sharing what has worked for them.
I'm going to a Kurakyn Grand Roll. It carries a bit, and based on my testing with a small sleeping bag in a stuff bag, it should work fine.
Now back to your original question, I've riding for some 45 years and have come to the realization that when I rode back on the East coast most of my riding was on country back road twistes with the occasional dually. While in the Mid-West back to mostly country roads. Big change out here on the "wrong" coast we seem to have a mix of either Bar Hoppers who only ride in the city (no wind issues there), Canyon carvers, still no need for wind blockers. Then there are those of us who do long hauls doing freeways, coast highways, back road duallys, and canyon twistes all in the same ride and with average speeds in the 75-85 mph range with natural cross winds, on shore, winds, mountain passes, and blistering desert heat all in the same day. Add a little road debris and some sort of wind perfection is deffinately warranted. Convertibles seem to be the minority on these long rides with most riding either touring, sport touring, full fairing sport metrics.
I've owned as many as 14 bikes at one time with most being convertibles, two full fairing sport metrics, one 1/4 fairing Harley, one 1/4 fairing full race BMW basically only street legal because it had lights and a tag on it. I don't belittle anyone for desiring something that adapts their bike to there riding still.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Have a look at Saraceni Bags or the Kuryakyn Handlebar Bag. I went for the Saraceni because I wanted leather. But both should do the trick.
