I use a H-D touring shield w a laminar lip on it to stop the helmet buffeting. Spring and summer riding here in the Texas coast area, a shield is a welcome protector from the gazillion bugs and the heat blast that can take your breath away at highway speeds.
trip20, I like your little home made shield, but when I went to expand the pic, my security program blocked the i59photobucket site, stating that it contained a pfishing trojan virus. May want to look into that...tp
I can't believe all the negative comments in this thread and the DB's that, then try and justify their negativity. Why does belittling people, make asshats feel good? Do you guys really think your cool?
I say, Rock a windshield and **** all the cool guys off.. You might try a nice full face first though, better protection and it Shields wind. Look at the bell vortex.
Try a small gym bag (something to carry **** in) or a rolled up jacket mounted on them mini apes. Breaks the wind and doesn't look stupid like a wind shield does on a Bob. Keep it lean!

And a gym bag or a rolled up coat on the apes dosen't look stupid on a bob.

Seems every forum has its share of thread police. Step out of popular thinking, or opinion, or, heaven forbid question it and you will suffer their rath. Doesn't seem to matter if it's bikes, hot rods, or whatever, change or stepping out or the norm is not tolerated by the frum police. LOL!
Now back to your original question, I've riding for some 45 years and have come to the realization that when I rode back on the East coast most of my riding was on country back road twistes with the occasional dually. While in the Mid-West back to mostly country roads. Big change out here on the "wrong" coast we seem to have a mix of either Bar Hoppers who only ride in the city (no wind issues there), Canyon carvers, still no need for wind blockers. Then there are those of us who do long hauls doing freeways, coast highways, back road duallys, and canyon twistes all in the same ride and with average speeds in the 75-85 mph range with natural cross winds, on shore, winds, mountain passes, and blistering desert heat all in the same day. Add a little road debris and some sort of wind perfection is deffinately warranted. Convertibles seem to be the minority on these long rides with most riding either touring, sport touring, full fairing sport metrics.
I've owned as many as 14 bikes at one time with most being convertibles, two full fairing sport metrics, one 1/4 fairing Harley, one 1/4 fairing full race BMW basically only street legal because it had lights and a tag on it. I don't belittle anyone for desiring something that adapts their bike to there riding still.

Fashion Police, man, that's closer to the truth. People just need to figure why they ride, and what is most important to them about riding. If it's a fashion thing, that's cool, but trying to shove their views on current fashion down other riders throats is pretty High School, IMO.
OP, if you want a windshield get one. I'll even give you a discount just for asking a legit question and dealing with all the harassment you got on here.lol Just PM me your information if you like any of ours, then call james at 775-331-3789 and he'll get it ordered for you.
