Excelent documentation. I had one question on the cam removal... Did you have to use a press on these still? I heard that 06' dyna's went to plain cam bearings. Did this make the job easier. I am planning on doing a cam upgrade on my 06 street bob, and wanted to know how easy it was.

I have some questions. I am not being a *** I am truly curious.

What kind of break in did you do for the new cams?

Why did you dump the O2 sensor?

Did you swap totally to a carburator or are you just not intending on using the EFI's ability to adjust?

I REALLY dig the new lope. I might have to look into some cams soon.

Yes they are plain bearings, and the cam change was relatively simple for anyone with a little mechanical background and experience, who is able to read and follow directions. A service manual is a must.

No press, as I didn't need to change the cam bearings. The new cams come with the race already pressed on, and it fits the cam bearing already in the case.

Break in on new cams?? I thought you were supposed to go right out and see how fast it would go. Seriously though, I'm just riding it. Not doing anything special.

On the 02 sensor issue. Don't really want to open a can of worms here, but after considering both the PCIII, and the SERT, I ended up going with the PCIII for various reasons. Among those reasons was:

* A lack of SERT tuners in my area that I would consider trustworthy (probably the biggest reason).

* I feel as though the 02 sensors ability to adjust is grossly overrated, especially at WOT, which is where I'm most concerned. If I'd bought this bike for fuel mileage, I would have got a Vespa instead.

* And last, but not least, I get this giddy kind of high from removing government mandated emissions equipment.

(No, seriously, I really do).

What brand of inner bearings are in your engine. I know that on the older TC88's they recommend going to the torrington bearings. I havent heard anything about the 06 dyna inner cam bearings. Did they look like they were good quality? How did the races look on the old cams? How many miles did you have on your old cams? Sorry to ask a bunch of questions. But I want to have all the information on this that I can. There isnt a whole lot of time on these new bearings yet, so its hard to find information.

I had around 9,000 miles on the engine when I tore it down, and the races on the cams were perfect.

I have no idea what brand the cam bearings are, but I inspected them pretty closely with a flashlight, and couldn't find anything wrong with them.

I uploaded a couple of closeups to my photobucket album for you. One will show you the style inner bearing these cams are using, the other will show you the new cam style.

They are good quality images, and if you'll save them, then open them with windows picture viewer, you'll really be able to zoom in on them.

Thanks!! The races that are part of the plain bushing (cam plate side) look great. There is hardly any foot print left. The inner bearing side doesnt look too bad, you can see a small footprint but nothing major. Were you running Dino oil or synthetic in your bike?
