Like em both. Both need apes to look right though. I wish the new ones had some decent 2tone paint options.

+1 to that and the dumb flame paint jobs. I like the new and old wide glides. I have an 06.

Not a fan of the apes either, I like the low, sleek prowlin' look. I do like the flamin' paint schemes too. Thought the blue was the best until I seen it up close and personal. Maybe red definitely black and orange.

I am enjoying everyone's take on the new vs. old Wide Glide. I originally wrote down my thoughts concerning my view because the wide glide I posted reminded me a LOT of mine I owned some years ago. I thought the dove tail was a distinct design feature and then in 2006 they straighten it? That was in a lot of views of people what made that bike very unpopular but then to be replaced by the Fat Bob? That was weird and a totally different bike on its own... and then they reintroduce the Wide Glide and I have to agree with several comments made here: Wide didn't they just rename it? I mean if you look at the frame and rake set up it's pretty obvious, it's an FXD frame with an exaggerated rake (doesn't nature and rides like ****... I have ridden them and not impressed)

I know I'll hear it from the new crowd but the other great thing about the older Wide Glide is it was a more natural set up rake and trail wise and handled nice, not all sloppy and jumpy like the new one. Nice new power plant though but man it's nothing more than a Street Bob with fancy paint and lucky for some it's consider a 2up set up.

But again the comments are awesome! No arguments at all just people have different takes on the Wide Glide!

I personally love the dove tail rear fender.
I'm a huge fan of ape hangers because they looked perfect on the Wide Glide.
I hate the new fat rear tires, they conned you all now you're paying double for a tire that's only 30mm wider.(They look stupid)
The rake and trail on the new WG just look awkward because that FXD frame just looks jacked up.

AND (yes I'm getting old)

I miss the Evolution motor!

I know I love my '93 .She rides and handles great and it has an evo.The only things I don't like about the new ones is the rear fender ,the flame paint job for every color and the efi .I could see doing a black base with red and yellow flames like the originals had in 1980 as a option and other color options with a nice logo on the tank. But not flames for every color.

I almost pulled the trigger on a 93 and as I was sitting talking to the salesman they were rolling out the 94s... the 93 I was looking at was one of them anniversary jobs and I knew if I owned one of those 'special' models I'd just ruin it... so I inquired about the 94 (in my previous post) and he was all over it... hell you know, back then I think I paid $16,000 for the damn thing! LOL

I'd like to add ... it was an early 80's WG that inspired me to even consider buying a Harley. I was a dirt bike, then a sport bike guy, so HD had nothing to offer me. Add to that, the reliability issues common in those older Harley's (I used to ride with several Harley owners, and there were always issues with their bikes not starting, or breaking down during the ride - always).

... but a friend of mine bought a new WG, it must have been an '82 or 83, and it was the most beautiful bike I had ever seen. At that point, I told myself if I ever got a Harley, it would be a WG.

Fast forward 20 something years later, I'm married and decide I want to slow down, throw the wife on the back of the bike, spend some time riding together. It seemed a WG was the only obvious choice. As much as I like metric sport bikes, I didn't see a point in considering a cruiser other than HD - why buy a copy rather than the original?

I looked at a bunch of used WG's, decided I liked one with a carb better than EFI ... found my 02, and it's my favorite of all the bikes I've ever owned. Even if I decide to get a sport bike at some point in the future (I probably will), I'll never get rid of this WG - it's my dream bike.

Like others said, I like the new style and think it should've had it's own name.
Would have been cool for HD to come out with a 2013' limited anniversary WG reminiscent of the ol' school design.
