Default Cleaning the crinkle black finish on the engine
What's the best recommendations for cleaning the wrinkle black finish on a Harley engine? I find it a real pain as everyday road dirt seems to ingrain itself into the engine coating.

water'd down simple green then S1000 works awesome... shout laundry spray for the spokes

Just don't wash it. Gives it character and the "rat bike" look. HAHAHAHA!

Seriously though, I have only washed my bike 3 times since I bought it new in June 2010. I just wipe it down with Quick Detailer after each ride and I'm good. I would like to hit the engine with some cleaner though just too busy riding to do it.

Soap and water followed by pig spit works great.

Simple green with a brush if it's filthy, followed by the above.

In a pinch I'll spray wd40 on a rag and wipe down my cases and belt guard.
