I'm thinking about putting the SE heavy breather on my 2011 WG. My question is whether my leg is going to hit the breather while riding? I am tall and tend to stretch my legs out - even rub against the front of the stock one at times. The heavy breather looks like it extends more towards the front of the bike - so may be ok. Anyone run into this issue? Don't want to purchase if going to be a problem. Help!
That’s what I was going for and while at the dealer they had one on a WG just sitting on the bike and it was hitting my legs kind of in the way for me and I'm 5' 11" so going stage 1 filter instead.
The stock AC cover hit my leg all the time, not so after installing the heavy breather. I'm 5'6 riding with forwards on a Fat Bob. That stock cover was diving me nuts.
I had the same issue as you wondering if my leg was going to hit the thing. I went to the dealer and sat a bike on the floor that had the heavy breather on it. Most of the CVOs have them on them.
Im 6'1'' and my leg don't touch it. With the stock cover my leg hit it all the time. The one thing i did find is that the brake pedal is a little harder to get at now.
Since the pipe is mounted flat onto the throttle body and the pipe only sticks out 3 3/4" from the TB with the 90 degree pipe elbow bent forwards facing the filter to the front it sticks out less than the stock cover does. You might be able to find a really slim filter that won't stick out as far from the TB forward but you won't find one that sticks out less from the TB back cause there is no part of the SE HD breather to stick out behind the TB. So for you guys that say your leg presses against the pipe, its going to with any filter the only difference is being able to rest your leg against the flat face of the filter vs pressing against the 90 degree elbow. I have one on my Fat Bob and I am 5'11" and even with a backrest seat that sits me a little more forward my leg still doesn't press against the pipe for the intake.
