Kinda surprised at how low the rear shocks came in.... from all the reports ive read from people who have thrown progressive's on you'd think it was like riding around on a matress!! Jusr bought a Mustang Solo from the classifieds so am working the list... have a new set of RX sealed glasses coming which will add to comfort as well.
1. Rider position for comfort
* could include seat/fwd controls/risers ect...
2. Passenger comfort
* this is the mods needed to keep from hearing bitch bitch bitch while riding, AND when you stop for a break!
3. Windshield
4. Fine tune comfort mods, might include swapping fwd controls for floorboards, spring swap ect...
I think i have the seat part situated (mustang vintage touring w/ backrest and wide passenger pillion), the seat changed my position and i tilted the bars back (about inline with fork angle) and i'm still stretched out some. might try some 3" riser with 1.5" pullback next. wife likes the passenger pillion, no fussing about the softness at all! As for ME... floorboards, and grips after risers
I was very comfortable on my '06 Street Bob until the inner primary bearing went and I traded it in on a '08 Wide Glide (afraid the problem would keep coming back).
I thought the Wide Glide was the bike of my dreams until my 30" inseam kept me from "reaching the pedals", especially getting my leg around the football air cleaner
Since I've had it:
installed windshield (necessary at highway speeds)
bought a reach seat that put me toooo close to the handlebars (for sale)
put on 1" lowering blocks
bought peg extensions (for sale)
replaced football with Willie G Stage 1 air filter cover (best bang for the buck!)
bought FB solo seat (a little hard but lowered me a bit)
I looked into buying shocks but got too confused with all the info out there. I am looking for comfort, not a firm ride on the "twisties", and don't want to spend money only to try em out.
I would go with rider position changes if necessary first. Seat, bars and pegs. If you're not completely comfortable a 500 mile ride can make you miserable for days.
