Hard to tell, still. You say it's for Dynas. Will it work on my RK? Any idea what kind of cost?

Being a former car stereo saleman I'll throw my sage advice towards you. Marine speakers typicaly lack good sound quality (There are exceptions to the rule). Since your box is sealed, the only exposusre is the front. Good speakers these days aren't made of paper or use foam surrounds. Good speakers use butyl surrounds and some synthetic cone material- they will last in your setup- only the grills may show weathering signs. Use a speaker that has as high an efficiency as possible. Eclipse speakers were my choice for customers not using a dedicated amplifier. High-end speakers typically have a low efficiency and sound bad running soley off a radio. If you can make that box air-tight, you will get some good bottom end sound, though you won't hear it at speed. The kenwood excelon line would be a good speaker if you are going to stick with k-wood.

jackyl, What are your thoughts on speakers? device pre's, and amp? I really like your mounting design, but the true problem on a harley sound system is the electronics..Even with ear buds and a powered preamp. its hard to get any quality at the volumes required to be heard over a good set of pipes.. If you can come up with the right electronics ,, you might really be on to something,,,
Please keep us informed..
Ronn.
hey ronn.ill be useing 6.5 inch kenwood speakers, maybe eclipse speakers.my friend has a similar case on his hertiage.thats what gave me the idea of the cases.but his system runs 4 inch speakers and it sounds great w/o a amp.i can even hear it when riding next to him.i figure with the 6.5 speakers,it shouldnt need a amp.and should be fine with loudpipes to.i have V&H bigshots on my bike and thier pretty load and i still hear his system, riding next to him.so with it on my windshield,i see no problems of sound

there's a couple of styles of boxes on ebay that are very similar. One of them has the speakers pointed up a little, which may help the sound at speed (if it's not to late to change the box)

man that is sweet, only thing i can tell you are all higher frequencies are very directional. that being said if your spreakers would face at an angle toward your face they would sound great. i had a tool roll which i put two 4 inch speakers in and put my cd player in the saddle bag then took the led out of remote and taped it to front of cd player then ran two very small wires to my remote soldier led to wires on one end and then soldier wires into remote. dont have any pics sold the bike.

i want one when your done that thing rocks
way to go

Well crap.. That means it prolly wont fit a 93 Electra Glide Sport, either. That dammed handlebar mounted "console" puts the brakes on just about anything that is handlebar mounted. I looked into a Deadwood batwing fairing, and was told by the company, that unless I convered over to a 94 or later Roadking Style tank mounted speedo/console, that it wouldn't fit either.

I think he means external amp, he'll be using the amp built into the stereo, which means he could bridge it assuming the stereo has 4 channels for even more power.
