I have look on the boards and I could not get a straight answer so...
l have a 2011 super glide custom. How wide/fat of a front and rear tire can I go before I have to start modifications?
I would like a wider tire up front then the stock one...
any ideas
thanks
I can't give you a straight answer either. But your wheels will probably limit you before your frame will. Find out what your wheel width is. Then compare suggested tire widths to that.
I also have an '11 FXDC. I recently put some Metzelers on which i think are awesome. I went for a 170 in the back and just the stock size 100 up front. I
believe you can go up to 110 in the front.
If you go wider then that silly little front fender be ready to get sand, rocks, and rain off the tire. I will go with a bigger tire after I find the right fender.
Ohh tires... I though the OP was a lady looking for advice for another type of "mod". Still rubber though... Well nevermind...
I think there is a tire 120 large for the front that fit the original rim, but the fender will not cover all of it and it will be fun rifding in the rain.
At the back, I believe the the largest you can get is 180, for more you need to change the rim
