Just so all know, the optional quick release chrome sissy bar for '12 Wide Glide has no rigid mount available, so you WILL get rattle out of it eventually. Sucks. Just sayin. Tried wrapping mounts with tape but it's only a temporary fix. HD needs to come out with rigid mount brackets IMO.
It's not a permanent fix, but use Teflon thread tape & make several wraps...works much better than electrical tape or other solutions.
They need to make the mounts out of a softer rubber material & that might solve the issue.
You could always make some. Side mounts are one of the easiest parts to fabricate. You could probably take some from an earlier year and redrill the holes to match.
You can also ditch the quick release and go with an under seat type mount.
I had a machinest make some docking point bushings from T-6 alum. bar stock. PITA to shim to correct position but after that, no more rattle.
By the way....I believe the instruction sheet for the QD's says rotate the docking point bushings 90 degrees from initial install when it begins to rattle and to plan on changing them ofter.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes....Tim(HT)

I have the tall one-piece sissy bar on my 2011 Wide Glide. Solved the rattle by putting a blob of black RTV sealant on the top of the rear docking point. Tightened up the fit and now no more rattle!
