just picked up a FF yesterday since I ride to work in the heat of the Seattle traffic here occasionally and would feel better with something more substantial on my head than a 1/2 or 3/4...anyway tried on a lot of them and ended up with a scorpion exo500 in matte black. it's a nice fitting helmet and has a quick release shield, quick flip down sun visor, and air adjustable cheek pads which is what really sold me on it since i could dial in my fit. Also, it was easier on the wallet at $199

I have been keeping my shield down because the heat coming off the road was/is so hot. It has been hovering at 100 for a few days cant imagine how hot the pavement is.

Have a question to those that ride them year around. The dealer says a FF should be cooler in the Summer due to much more vents compared to my HD branded HJC half helmet. Any truth to that, or just salesman BS?

I used to wear a Suomi Spec 1R when I had my R-6. It was very very light, comfortable, and wind noise was minimal. I wish I would have kept it when I sold that bike. Now, I rock a flat black half-helmet with the Wide Glide. It is great for 90% of the riding I do, but wish I still had the Suomi for the expressway riding.

I really like the Shark Evoline2 but it's pricey. The luminescent doesn't really fit an HD but it's very cool.

I have been looking at the Scorpion exo900. Anybody have any experience with one? Never had a ff helmet before and a little nervous putting that much cash in a helmet without riding with it for awhile. I did try on several different brands and Scorpion fit me the best.

i wear a shoei x-11 it flows tons of air and fits great. my girl has a scorpion exo 900 and she loves it and i can see why, its a great helmet. i come from a sportbike backround with the last 3 years spent doing trackdays wearing leather suits and gauntlet gloves(it gets hot). when i got my fat bob i looked at half helmets but i just cant put my x-11 down for one no matter how out of place it looks. the scorpion line in my opinion is the best bang for the buck out there you wont be dissapointed

I won't ever tell someone what to wear on their head. The reason is simple, it is their choice and a helmet is all about fit and comfort as well as function.
For years I wore AGV for riding and road racing. Off road is Troy Lee all the way. I tried the HJC but never fit my pumpkin head just right. I really love the conveneince of the Modulars and recognize that they only offer a slight margin of protection over a 3/4 in a collision, however not all hazards are collisions. I have been hit with more rocks then I care to over the years including one the chipped ( actually cracked when X-ray'd) the chin bar of my full face fiberglass AGV.
I bought the Bilt Solar and although the ear pockets are a little forward for my pumpkin head the helmet fits well and has good features and a good 5 year warranty. I just ordered the new Bell Revolver EVO and should have it on Tuesday.
My issue is I want Matt Black and the initial shipment from Bell sold out and it is on BO until September. Today I lucked out and found one dealer who had one left in inventory in my XL size.
I chose this helmet because a riding buddy with a 7-5/8 head size has one and loves it. I also love the fact that the chin bar is long and low like the Arai and AGV. The down side is the Bell is heavier then most of the competition. If AGV were to make one I would buy it.
