Problem is ...the place where the retainer ring sits....the "throat" is a good 1/4 inch longer. I was able to just barely get the exhaust port nuts on.
The exhaust is on. The front pipe mount matches where the stock on was.
I didn't want to muscle them any more without at least asking for advice.
take your time even if you have to remove those flange nuts and check the retaining rings and be careful to hold the retaining ring against the rim with the flange at the same time and wiggle the assembly a bit until you fell the exhaust pipe mouth is seated against the gasket (old or new) hold that with one hand now and reach down with the other to where you placed the flange nutz ready to go on. You can put your left knee under the exhaust to hold it up !
Yes, I got the old gaskets out no problem. New ones in no problem. I believe it is seated properly....but the flange (ok.so that's what it's called) is longer than my stock one. I bet the stock is 1/4 inch. The new exhaust a good 1/2 inch.
I'll recheck in the morning. They are mounted but I had a lot more exhaust stud sticking out w/ the stock pipes.
dude it's the new gaskets ----- very observant you are!
Just be careful not to compensate by over-tightening them , I think you have it right! If it sounds good and you can't feel any exhaust near the flanges your good to go. Re- tighten them cold after a couple rides just to check.
Doh! OK. Well I didn't think about the fact that I haven't wrenched on them yet. Maybe once that gasket crushes like Madd mentioned I ll have enough ?
I ll check it out in the morning.
Your pic looks exactly like my bubs, no worries man you will get it on there. I was going to upload a photo but the site thinks it's too large and now my outlook is mess up, but I doubt you will need to change your studs.
The length of that area does not make a difference other than to provide a better seal.
You have not worked the pipe into the gasket properly. Sometimes you fight it, sometimes they go right in.
Is the collar the same thickness or are you using the same collar as with the stock pipes?
You will not need to change the studs, the stock ones are plenty long enough.
