Default Cut front turn signal wires

I know that this has been discussed a lot and most would
unplug from harness. I had a 2011 Sportster Custom and
wanted to relocate front signals so I called the dealer and
talked to the service manager asked what they would do
and he said they would cut and splice. I did it that way and
it worked with no issues. I would think the wiring would
be the same on a Superglide thinking of doing the same thing
but reading so many threads not many would cut and splice.
Has anyone done it this way with a Superglide?

Thanks in advance
Charlie

Yes, yes I did. I relocated mine and that is what I did. Got some nice crimp butt connectors that when you heat them up act like shrink tubing and release a sealant. Worked slick. Then I covered it all up with wiring conduit that is used for auto wiring harnesses.

Cut, solder, heat shrink, its the only way. I think I've cut and spliced at least 5X's. Swapped to bullet signals, relocated signals and changed the handlebars 3X's from drag to apes etc. cutting & splicing wiring harness everything on the bars over the past 10 years. Just disconnect the battery first.......take your time.

I did it when I swapped to bullets in the front. No issues. A properly soldered and heatshrinked connection will be stronger than the surrounding wire.

Cut and solder is not the only way, just the lazy way IMO. Nothing wrong with it, but it's just as easy to unplug it and take apart the connector. Goes back together nice and clean.

when I did mine I planned to do the unplug/unpin method...

After unpinning the 1st plug I found that there was a factory splice just below it... still had to cut/soldier

Could you explain, why did the factory splice make you have to cut another one? Did you change out your turn signals or did you just relocate the stock ones?
