Default Start Up Oil Pressure

I recently bought a 2002 Wide Glide. First Harley but not new to riding. The first thing I did was have the oils changed and the bike checked out. Its just a habit I've had since I was a youngster. The first few days I owned it, the oil pressure gauge and Idiot light went out almost instantly. Now, the light stays on and the oil pressure gauge takes about 10 to 15 seconds to move. Took it to another shop where they changed the oil filter to one with a spring and I guess a check valve type deal in it. Still the same thing. The bike has 6350 miles with a mechanical gauge running HD 20/50 synthetic oil. It holds around 32 to 35 psi running down the road and drops to around 5 to 10 at idle. Is this normal or do I have more problems. Thanks in advance for any info.

You have nothing to worry about. Normal at idle and normal running down the rode. 6350 on a 12yr old engine is barely broken in. You might check the cam-chain tensioners, not for oiling problems but for wear.

Thanks for the feedback Dave. I'm just gonna ride it till it dies then I think I'll build it into a "giant" killer. Got in trouble at work the other day because I decided to go riding instead of working. OOOpss. I just had new tires put on and DAMN, talk about making a huge improvement. I think the belt may be just a little too tight, it's making a little noise, not quite a squeek or rubbing sound, more like a belt that's too tight.

Glad to help a little. There are no giants, so don't worry about having to kill any.
Look for the belt defection gauge on the debris deflector. Each mark is 1/8" apart. The belt should have no more than 3/8" deflection when pressed at the center. Acceptable is 5/16 to 3/8 at 10lbs pressure.
There is a belt-tension gauge/tool available. Be sure the rear wheel is aligned correctly after making any adjustment.
