The H-D adapter blocks are a poor option, IMO.
But looking at the pics of the separated piece, it looks like the destroyed one is mounted at the wrong place on the frame rail.

I'm taking mine back today but the pic in the instruction sheet seems to show it mounted on the angled part of the rail about 4" further back. No? (So actually, if true, all of 'em are mounted too far forward...)

I know it has nothing to do w/ the damage or the poor design of the blocks but still...

And to the OP, I'm behind you the whole way. Sue the bafterds! And after that we should sue the gun makers 'cause you shot yourself in the foot.

All you can do in life is be prepared cause s#it happens and when it does, it is what it is. If you use something and you didn't do it like you were supposed to or take the proper precautions you don't go looking for someone to blame. If you feel like something has a design flaw come up with a better design don't just cry about the design and say people should sue. Personal responsibility is what this country needs not another reason to file a lawsuit.

Don't think I said anything about someone running a stop sign or defective product. Nope, sure didn't.

I believe I said a car turning or pulling out in front of you, because this happens to bikes all the time and they just say they didn't see them. A guy was killed during this years ROT Rally here in Austin when a lady turned left in front of him, no charges were filed against her. There have been as least 2 different incidents of motorcycle riders losing control and being ejected over the barrier of 2 different highway clover leafs here in Austin and killed, one guy fell 80' the other I think 40'. Who should be blamed? I ride these clover leafs all the time and a rise and fall takes place between the joints that causes a bounce and if you were going to fast it will cause loss of control. I am not talking about going faster than the speed limit either but faster than the caution speed on the yellow sign.

As for products, if you know a product is defective or of bad design and choose to use it anyway you made that choice and that makes it your responsibility. I use the orange HD blocks and I know about them coming apart, in fact I have one wrapped with electric tape to help hold it together. If it fail it is my fault. This does not mean people should not start a collective complaint campaign to HD to have them redesign the blocks. I also don't jack my bike higher than needed to do what I need to do and always strap it to hold it stable.

I make my choices, how well I educate myself before making those choices is my responsibility.

Theres no warning in my pickup that says not to put it in drive then run out in front of it and lay down in front of the tires. You know why there isnt a warning for that? Because nobody should stand in the way of natural selection
