Just got my first bike, a 2000 Dyna FXD. Plan to do plenty of mods. Been lurking here for some time, even before rider’s edge.
I have read about a socket with an “O” ring for the top shock nut. I have 39mm forks and the nut appears to be 1 3/8 inch (chrome). Is that the correct size or is it metric? (I have a shop manual on order, get it in about a week .)
I did a search here and can’t come up with anything.
Is there a brand or manufacturer and a tool part number? Or do you just put an O ring over the nut and use a standard socket?
Thanks

I bought one on Ebay a couple years ago for about $20.00. Get the MFG part number out of the Service Manual then do a search.
Also wrapping the shoulder of the Cap Nut with electrical tape to protect the chrome, then using a 6 point 1 3/8" socket works.
Thanks to all. I grebbed one from Amazon - great customer service there. By the time this comes I will also have my manual and then plan to change fork oil. This is a great site!
I use a standard socket and just protect the surfaces. An adjustable wrench (Crescent) will also work. However it's hard to torque to specs with an adjustable wrench. IF you have the socket (and a torque wrench), then you can properly torque the caps.
