Anyone had the Fat mini apes replaced on their Dyna yet (recall # 0127)? My friend was ready to put the '06 WideGlide bars (#59782-06A)on his '07 Softtail custom and as I held them before the install they felt like bicycle handlebars. After I told him about the recall he ended up going with the Fat mini apes (#56832-04) and they had some beef to them. I'm just wondering if the replacement bars will be similar to the -04 bars or just a quick fix with a bit more metal around the wiring hole ......??? I liked the feel of the -04 bars and would spend the $150 rather than risk yet another attempt at fixing the stock bar. They are now on the -06B model afterall.........maybe third time is a charm?????

The recall is on bars # 59782-06 and #59782-06A, the replacement is #59782-06B. Haven't seen the replacement yet but hope it is a bit more solid. The recall can be found at http://www.h-dnet.com/news/~scripts/...1513000601.aspbut you will need a dealer logon to get the page. You are supposed to be able to just go to a dealer with your VIN # and they should tell you if your bars are included in the recall. Supposedly the 2006 FXDWGI and 2007 FXDWG bikes built between June 17th, 2005 and December 4, 2006 are included in the recall. The problem is that they crack at the hole where the wires exit the handlebars between the clamps.
I had mine replaced with Wild-1 507 drag bars. MoCo covered the entire deal. I just paid about a $50 difference for the Wild-1's. For once, I felt like I got the best of my dealer!
Oh yeah...My bars had three large cracks at the clamp.
i had mine (07 WG) changed by the dealer. i dont think there was a difference in looks, but the new bars felt more solid...less flex. thats just me though. now i am putting on 16" buffalo 1.5 inch bars....so i wont have to worry about it any more anyway LOL
When I realized the recall I checked mine and noticed the crack. I made a deal with my local dealer and replaced 16' apes without paying for handlebar only paid for wiring
