I have found alot of threads on this, but no information that has been of any help. What im looking to do is the same thing that most of us Wide Glide riders want is.... get rid of the damn bobtail rear fender. Does anyone have the specs of the bobtail fender, and/or another fender that would be a direct bolt on. Are any other Harley fenders swapable, or do you have to go aftermarket? If so, where would i look aftermarket? Thanks guys, I appreciate whatever you can tell me.
Forgive me for some beginners questions, can i just get new struts, that will bolt on in place, or do i have to customize to get other struts to fit, if so what struts can i replace them with and for which fenders?
I guess some think that the WideGlide struts are not longer than the other Dyna struts are. Dyna Frames are all the same EXCEPT for the Rake on the Wideglide. The rear struts are longer than the other models and are too long for the other fenders. Other than that you should have no problem.
Excuse me, if thats trip20's bike in that picture I should bow to him as he appears to have more knowledge than I about the subject.
I think you're right that they're longer but not to the point where they're remotely close to sticking out past the fender itself. This is the only pic I have access to at the moment but the rear bolt in the pic below (just above the turn signal) is pretty much the end of the strut. There are a few more inches of fender.

What rear fender do you have on this bike? This is what I'm wanting to do as well.

The struts are the EXACT SAME LENGTH on dyna's. The chrome strut covers are whats different lengths.
To answer the OP, any dyna fender from an 06-newer will fit. Fat bob & new wide glide will need some massaging.
